Who we are

The Bottle Shock YouTube channel, the bar at 24 Victoria Street, Gumeracha SA, and the Big Blind League are operated by Ochre Nation Pty Ltd (ABN 38 165 945 095), trading as Bottle Shock ("we", "us"). You can reach us at cheers@bottleshock.tv. This policy explains how we handle your personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

  • Account details you give us: name, email, and password (or your Google/Apple sign-in).
  • Player profile details you choose to add (hometown, day job, go-to bottle, palate, where you play).
  • Your League activity: points, claim codes redeemed, and cups entered.
  • Whether you've opted in to marketing email.

How we use it

  • To run your League account, the points ledger and the public ladder.
  • To send you League updates and newsletters — only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe any time.
  • To verify eligibility (18+ and South Australian residency for the 2026 season).

Photos, video & the public ladder

Bottle Shock is a filmed competition. We take photos and video at the bar, pop-ups, Regional Cups and the Grand Final, and we may use your name, image, likeness and League results on the public ladder, on our YouTube channel, and in marketing for Bottle Shock and the League — you agree to this when you join, as it's how the League runs in public. You can choose to show only your first name and last initial on the public ladder from your profile; your email and contact details are never shown publicly. If you'd prefer not to feature in a specific photo or clip, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate it.

Where it lives

Account and League data is stored with our backend provider (Supabase). Email marketing is managed through Klaviyo, and payments for entries are processed by Shopify — we don't store your card details. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic account details from them. Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia (including the United States); we only use reputable providers and share the minimum needed to run the League.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and League data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our records, tax and legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies — to remember that you've confirmed you're over 18 and to keep your device connected during live events. We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to give us aggregated, non-identifying statistics about how the site is used (pages visited, device type, approximate region). For a limited period we're also using PostHog for product analytics — anonymised heatmaps and session recordings that show where visitors click and scroll, so we can improve the site's layout. Anything you type is always masked in your browser before anything is sent, so we never capture what you enter (emails, names, notes; passwords always), and screens inside your League account are text-masked as well. Recordings on our public pages may include the page content you saw, which is already public. PostHog stores its data in the United States. You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time without affecting your league account, and we don't use advertising cookies.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information at any time by emailing cheers@bottleshock.tv. You can opt out of marketing using the unsubscribe link in any email. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, contact us first — and you can also reach the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
